Call For Voice Recording Engineers

We will be recording a voice over of MDT faculty member Adria Firestone. This will be a high-end recording. I am looking for a crew of 3-5 to make this happen. Multi experience preferred. The recording is to be used for a special application, not a class.

This is now a grand piano recording (in studio) plus VO. It will not happen next Thurs. Probably the one after. Piano setup will have to be day before. Have no details yet regarding piano mover, etc.. I am getting the vo text and will email it to you guys.

    Still looking for more crew.

  6. Additionally, we need someone who can play piano to sit in while we mic. That will probably be a week from next Weds. Let me know if you know someone.

  9. Update, as of the moment, from communication with MDT people:

"Thanks, Adria. Nice speaking to you. Please send the VO copy as soon as you have it.

Just a head's up, it's important to make it clear to all involved, especially the musician, that our schedule is crucial. Right now I am assuming our record date will be Thurs 9/27 approx. 6 PM. Piano will have to be in position at or prior to Weds 9/26, noon. Arrangements for that will have to be made via me. Mix date, unsupervised (myself and my students attending,) will probably be on the weekend, probably 9/29.

This is pending the outcome of Adria's meeting with the pianist, Rene. There will be very little wiggle room, schedule wise, so I am basically saying that this is the schedule, barring Murphy's law. Note we are currently dealing with ventilation issues with Facilities and hope that will be resoled by next Weds.. I additionally have to schedule ventilation for irregular hours, and that requires lead time, about 2 days...."

  10. Update:
Here is the VO text, basically a poem, which may be recorded live with the piano, which means VO in the ISO, though I would prefer not to do that, because we get better sound in the studio.

"WHEN I DIE give what’s left of me away
to children and old men that wait to die.
And if you need to cry,
cry for your brother walking the street beside you.
And when you need me, put your arms around anyone
and give them what you need to give me.
I want to leave you something,
something better than words or sounds.
Look for me in the people I’ve known or loved,
and if you cannot give me away
at least let me live in your eyes and not in your mind.
You can love me best by letting hands touch hands,
and by letting go of children that need to be free.
    Love doesn’t die, people do
So when all that’s left of me is love,
    give me away."

  13. OK, I appreciate all the volunteers, this will be an excellent crew. However, FYI, I just got word that the proposed date, Thurs 9/26, is a no go nixed by the musician. So I am waiting to find out our balls- to-the-wall last-moment deadline for mix delivery; and we will try to re-sked. ALSO, the grand piano is now an UPRIGHT PIANO. Read the recording methods for uprights in MRT and PMT.
