EPITAPH - Merrit Malloy
"When I die
Give what’s left of me away To children
And old men that wait to die
And if you need to cry
Cry for your brother
Walking the street beside you
And when you need me
Put your arms Around anyone
And give them
What you need to give to me
I want to leave you something
Something better than words
Or sounds
Look for me In the people I’ve known
Or loved
And if you cannot give me away
At least let me live on your eyes
And not on your mind
You can love me most
By letting
Hands touch hands
By letting
Bodies touch bodies
And by letting go of children
That need to be free
Love doesn’t die
People do
So, when all that’s left of me
Is love
Give me away"
SCR Vox will be set up in good sightline to Studio, but not too far from Mains. We may have a lot of takes, so fleet use of Mem Loc Window and documentation is extremely important.
Final delivery will be via Soundcloud.
Please note that when I edit details into this post I will flash a comment to kick through your notifications. Stay on top of it, this is your session. I am Producer.

  1. As I recall post is Wednesdays 12pm to 3pm, so I assume we should head directly to the studio as you will be down there already, or should someone grab the key from central?

  2. I will be there already, yes. The keycard system is now screwed, so you may be able to walk right in.

  3. Ruthie, would you kindly reconfirm with your piano player friend regarding setup playing on Weds. We can make a recording of him/her as well, on Weds, as a token of our appreciation.

    1. Hi, yes. He's confirmed for 3pm Wednesdays but waiting for him to let me know until what time. He just informed me that his band is playing in the city late at night. If he doesn't work out, I know another person who can possibly sit in. Will keep you posted.

  4. Re SOS article, I’m liking “UprightPanelsOff20cmPair1” – spaced pair/80cm width, 20cm from front/panels off/approx player’s head-level; and “UprightPanelsOn1mPair2” for ambience – spaced pair from above lid/1 meter apart/1 meter from above.
The close mics should be omni, the more distant, cardioid. Please discuss.

  5. I Like "UprightPanelsOff1mPair3" which is miking the piano from the back. If sound pretty well balanced and eliminates most of the hammer and pedal noise you would get from some of the front miking positions.

  6. IIRC that's not the back. That's from seat, level, front, panels off. I like it, but there is a lack of fundamental in the low end. Also worried about foot action. But, it might blend well with the others. The article is very disorganized in how they refer to the sound examples, and the files are in file order, not presented in the order referred to in the article.

  7. Hernan, if you are done using my keyboard, please bring it.

  8. Too bad we didn't get video of the smoking console. Just remember, the way it is rigged, PTools works exactly the same. You just have to use the mouse for everything. The Mackie is only there as a monitor volume control. It does not pass any critical signals.

  9. Please bring printout of the script and we will make copies for all.
